by Comedian and singer Bridget Everett will star in an HBO series inspired by her upbringing in Kansas.
HBO today announced it had ordered Somebody Somewhere to series, with Everett starring and executive producing. Jay Duplass directed the pilot last year, and he and his brother Mark Duplass also will EP, along with series creators Hannah Bos and Paul Thureen, plus Carolyn Strauss, Patricia Breen, Mel Eslyn and Tyler Romary.
“As a born and bred Kansan, I’m thrilled to share some of the beauty and complexity of the place that I grew up,” said Everett. “For as long as I can remember, I’ve dreamt of making a show on HBO. I’m so grateful to Amy Gravitt, Casey Bloys and the entire HBO family for their faith in Somebody Somewhere. Special thanks to LL Cool J for the words to live by, ‘DDHD. Dreams Don’t Have Deadlines.’”
Everett will star as Sam Miller, a singer lost in her native Kansas, looking for acceptance and more.

Everett has long held a residency at Joe’s Pub at the Public Theater, regularly performing with her band The Tender Moments. Comedy Central filmed an hour special of her show there and released it in 2015, following Everett’s multiple appearances on the network’s Inside Amy Schumer. Everett continues to collaborate with Schumer on their Spotify podcast, 3 Girls, 1 Keith. Everett’s other screen credits include the HBO series, Camping, Netflix’s Lady Dynamite, and the movie, Patti Cake$.
