Comedy Dynamics filming Four Stand-Up Specials as Drive-Ins Outside the Rose Bowl

This escalated quickly.

Comedians only just realized a couple of months ago that they could adopt drive-in movie technology to perform live stand-up shows safely during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Now Comedy Dynamics already has lined up four drive-in shows that the company will film for upcoming specials.

It’s all part of the Tribeca Drive-In series at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, Calif..

From July 9-12, Comedy Dynamics and Tribeca Enterprises will stage four nights of stand-up comedy, with fans watching from inside their vehicles and listening through their radios. The schedule: Dave Helem (July 9), Ester Steinberg (July 10), Daniel Webb (July 11) and Erica Rhodes (July 12). Each will be filmed for his/her own stand-up comedy special, directed by Brian Volk-Weiss, executive produced by Cisco Henson, and produced by Michael Epstein.

A percentage of the ticket proceeds will go to Black Lives Matter.

“At Tribeca’s core, we aim to bring people together through the arts to send a signal of unity and resiliency to the world during challenging times,” said Tribeca Enterprises and Tribeca Film Festival Co-Founder and CEO Jane Rosenthal. “As an immediate and safe solution, we’re excited to bring new and classic works from filmmakers, creators, and artists to communities across the country through the Tribeca Drive-In series. As the nation begins to emerge from months of quarantine, we look forward to movie theaters reopening and hope that the Drive-In serves as a reminder of the magic of the moviegoing experience.”

“We’re honored to be partnering with Tribeca to bring laughs to the world and to tell COVID that we won’t back down from that mission!!” said Volk-Weiss, Founder and CEO of Comedy Dynamics.
