James Cannizzaro, aka “Jimmy Big Balls,” recovering from coronavirus

James Cannizzaro, who works security at Gotham Comedy Club, is recovering from the coronavirus, three weeks after he first entered the ER in Brooklyn.

The 58-year-old Cannizzaro, known to many in comedy as “Jimmy Big Balls” during his previous marriage to comedian Lisa Lampanelli from 2010-2014, had remarried. He told the New York Daily News that he began feeling unwell a month ago (March 7), but only visited a CityMD clinic on March 13. He went to the ER afterward, only to be discharged, then return two days later with his current wife to New York Presbyterian-Brooklyn Methodist Hospital. He has told the Daily News, and also CBS2, that he credits the medication he received there with his recovery.

“I feel pretty good. I’ve come a long way. It has been almost a month since I got the illness and, you know, I’m still on the oxygen. But it’s good to be home,” James Cannizzaro told CBS2’s Tara Jakeway on Monday.
