Tina Fey and Amy Poehler will host the 2021 Golden Globes, after “not” hosting the 2019 Oscars

NBC wasted little time trying to make us forget about last week’s Golden Globes by letting us know already that Tina Fey and Amy Poehler would return for a fourth time hosting the Globes come January 2021.

Fey and Poehler hosted three consecutive times from 2013-2015, in between turns by Ricky Gervais, who hosted this year.

Unlike Gervais, however, Fey and Poehler continue to have deep ties to NBC. Poehler co-hosts Making It, the reality competition series which she also executive produces with her former Parks and Recreation co-star Nick Offerman. Fey, meanwhile, has a new NBC series forthcoming (though still unscheduled) which will star Ted Danson as the mayor of Los Angeles. This is unrelated to The Good Place.

Anyhow.

Fey and Poehler, alongside their longtime SNL friend Maya Rudolph, also stepped in last year for ABC when that network’s Academy Awards found itself without a host. They opened the 2019 Oscars and joked about how they weren’t hosting, but told enough jokes for a monologue nevertheless.
