CollegeHumor lays off 100+ employees as IAC pulls funding, hands reins over to longtime CH’er Sam Reich

CollegeHumor launched online in 1999, begat an MTV show in 2009, and turning the corner from 2019 into 2020, now finds itself in a financial hole. IAC, which had bought the site in 2006, announced more than 100 layoffs on Wednesday, after attempts to sell the site seemingly failed to produce a new buyer. R.I.P. Buck Henry

One of our great comedic screenwriters has died. Buck Henry, born Henry Zuckerman in 1930 New York City, died Wednesday. He was 89. Though his many nominations and awards honored his writing, Henry also enjoyed success from his acting, even from the beginning of his career. An early bit involved Henry pretending to be the the president of the Society for Indeceny to Naked Animals, which proclaimed a need to clothe animals. Rachel Bloom and Fran Drescher adapting The Nanny into Broadway musical

This is really happening. Fran Drescher, who starred as The Nanny for 146 episodes from 1993-99, is developing the sitcom into a Broadway musical, co-writing the book with her series co-creator, Peter Marc Jacobson, with music and lyrics from Rachel Bloom and Adam Schlesinger. Bloom and Schlesinger, of course, won an Emmy Award last year for their work together on Bloom’s CW series, Crazy Ex-Girlfriend. Leslie Jones to host primetime Supermarket Sweep game show for ABC

Just days before her first Netflix special drops, Leslie Jones has earned herself another gig in her post-SNL life: Game show host. Jones already has appeared on multiple game-show revivals with ABC as a celebrity guest. Now ABC has tapped her to host the new version of Supermarket Sweep.
