Project Comedy Club Database finds few women booked across America this fall

Women may have made great strides in comedy this decade, but judging by America’s comedy clubs, they’re still not getting booked on a regular basis.

A new project, Project Comedy Club Database, broke down some numbers. Looking specifically at the past three months, September-November 2019, the project found only 16 percent of the comedians booked (either opening, middling or headlining) across 55 comedy clubs were women.

Fifty-four percent (54.3, precisely) of the comics booked were white guys.

You can explore their data here.
