Phoebe Robinson talk show a go at Comedy Central

Comedy Central still has one of the 2 Dope Queens lined up for 2020.

The network today announced a 10-episode order for a talk show fronted by Phoebe Robinson, featuring one-on-one interviews with headliners across pop culture.

“This show will hit that sweet spot between educational and charmingly ignorant,” said Robinson. “Who doesn’t love that? Well, all older black people who struggled and marched for my rights. But besides that, everyone else does!”

“Phoebe is everything we look for in a creative partner. She’s hilarious, brilliant, relatable and not afraid to be provocative,” said Sarah Babineau and Jonas Larsen, Co-Heads of Original Content for Comedy Central. “This unique format is the perfect vehicle for her, as she gets some of today’s most fascinating people to show us a new side of themselves, while we also get to spend more time with the incredibly compelling Phoebe. We’re fortunate to be working with her on this series and can’t wait to get started.”

The series is produced for Comedy Central by Embassy Row (Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee) and Tiny Reparations, Robinson’s company. Robinson will executive produce alongside Michael Davies.

Robinson, currently on tour at the Edinburgh Fringe, co-starred and co-created the hit podcast and HBO series, 2 Dope Queens (with former Daily Show correspondent Jessica Williams). Robinson also hosts a second podcast, Sooo Many White Guys, and has moderated panels with former First Lady Michelle Obama around the world.

She previously wrote The New York Times best-seller You Can’t Touch My Hair & Other Things I Still Have To Explain, a collection of essays about race, gender and pop culture. Her second book, Everything’s Trash, But It’s Okay was released last fall. Her acting credits include Netflix comedy Ibiza and What Men Want.

Stay tuned for the title and launch date for her Comedy Central series.
