Just For Laughs muscles up on TV production, hires Spencer Griffin to head it

Just For Laughs, under new ownership over the past year, has gotten more and more involved in additional projects outside of its well-known comedy festivals. JFL recently launched an original web series, “It’s A Date!” starring Jessie Jolles. And now JFL has a new head of TV development in Spencer Griffin. Adult Swim orders up “Three Busy Debras” to series

Adult Swim is adding some actual live women to the late-night cable channel’s programming. Three Busy Debras, starring, written and created by Sandy Honig, Mitra Jouhari and Alyssa Stonoha, will come to TV. Their sketch comedy series will follow the aforementioned Debras as housewives in the fictional well-to-do suburb of Lemoncurd, Conn. It’ll get real weird, real quick. NBC orders “Sunnyside” sitcom with Kal Penn and co-starring comedians Joel Kim Booster and Moses Storm

Congrats to my neighbors in Queens!? NBC has ordered the sitcom Sunnyside to series for the upcoming Fall 2019 schedule. The sitcom stars Kal Penn as a young New York City Councilman from the Queens neighborhood of Sunnyside whose career crashes and burns, and then gets rescued, sort of, by a group of younger immigrants.
