Look out, Montreal’s New Faces (now sponsored by ICM!)! There’s a new comedy showcase coming for your prestige. Comedy Central’s Up Next, which debuted last year at the inaugural Clusterfest in San Francisco, is expanding in year two to include not only up-and-coming stand-ups, but also sketch comedians and variety acts. Chris Redd will host with special guest Tim Dillon on the first showcase Friday, June 1; Julian McCullough hosts with guest Mark Normand on Saturday; and Matthew Broussard hosts the variety showcase on Sunday. The 2018 New York Television Festival has selected 59 original pilots and pitches for its annual Independent Pilot Competition this July.
