R.I.P. Harry Anderson (1952-2018)

Harry Anderson, best known for starring in the NBC Must-See TV sitcom Night Court from 1984-1992, has died at his home in North Carolina. He was 65. Born Oct. 14, 1952, in Newport, R.I., Anderson and his family moved to Chicago, where he discovered card games, magic tricks and hustling. He took those tricks with him to Hollywood, where he spent his teen years (graduating as class valedictorian in 1970 from North Hollywood High), before making the move to San Francisco to start his career. R.I.P. Floyd J. Phillips

Floyd J. Phillips grew up in Michigan and died there, but his comedy influence also spread to the Pacific Northwest. Phillips died April 6, after more than 35 years on and off of dialysis. He’d posted a GoFundMe just last month to try to defray his medical expenses and help get him back on his feet one last time. 15th annual StandUp NBC comedian search kicks off, will allow video submissions, too

NBC’s annual StandUp NBC nationwide search for stand-up comedians of diverse backgrounds, has launched, and for its 15th anniversary, the event not only is expanding to five regional audition sites instead of four, but also is allowing video submissions for each of the regionals. Details: The five cities for auditions in 2018 will be: Chicago (June 9-10), Las Vegas (June 23-24), Charlotte (July 28-29), New York (August 11-12), and Houston (Sept 22-23).
