UCB Theatre moving from Chelsea to Hell’s Kitchen in December 2017

The flagship theater for the Upright Citizens Brigade is moving on up out of the basement of Gristedes supermarket in Chelsea and into a 160-seat theater space of its own in Hell’s Kitchen. After 14 years on West 26th Street, the UCB Theatre will move to 555 W. 42nd St. at the corner of 11th Avenue — the former Pearl Theatre space. R.I.P. Sean Hughes (1965-2017)

Irish comedian Sean Hughes was only 24 when he won the Edinburgh Fringe Festival’s top prize for his 1990 showcase, “A One Night Stand with Sean Hughes.” Hughes returned to Edinburgh this past August with friends for an improvised showcase, “Sean Hughes’s Blank Book.” Hughes broke through young, and he has died far too young, at only 51. His last Tweet from a week ago told friends and fans he was “In hospital.” He reportedly died Monday from cirrhosis of the liver. Wyatt Cenac starring in new weekly late-night docuseries for HBO

Wyatt Cenac is joining John Oliver and Jon Stewart in making the jump to HBO. HBO announced a new 10-episode late-night series starring Cenac that will debut in spring 2018. The untitled series stars Cenac, and will be executive produced by him alongside Oliver, Ezra Edelman and Hallie Haglund, who’ll be head writer. Diane Fitzgerald from Last Week Tonight with John Oliver also will co-executive produce. Kevin Hart will return to an arena near you in 2018, as he’s just announced his new Irresponsbile Tour, kicking off New Year’s Eve in Orlando.
