Ed Helms goes back to his Comedy Central roots with special, “Fake News with Ted Nelms”

Is that Ed Helms? Or is that Ted Nelms?

A little bit of both, as Helms dressed up in disguise for a fantasy sequence of a comedy sketch reuniting the gang from The Daily Show with Jon Stewart for a special episode of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.

But truthfully, Helms is planning to go back to Comedy Central for at least one night only — in a planned special called Fake News with Ted Nelms.

In contrast to The Daily Show, which made fun of the news, Fake News will actually be all made-up stuff, including its anchor.

No air date has been announced yet for the special, which Helms is executive producing with Mike Falbo and former Daily Show producer Stu Miller.

Comedy Central has another “news” special in the works this summer from Jordan Klepper, another Daily Show correspondent looking to make the jump to his own late-night talker on the network this fall.
