Kevin Hart and Lionsgate launching Laugh Out Loud as Video On Demand service

Kevin Hart’s relationship with Lionsgate is going next level, LOL, VOD. Literally.

Hart’s Hartbeat Digital and Lionsgate announced today they’re launching a new video-on-demand service called Laugh Out Loud that’ll exclusively hold all of Hart’s content outside of live touring and theatrical releases — starting with an original series starring the stand-up comedian as an undercover Lyft driver. Another original series will star Facebook and Vine star Logan Paul.

One of Team Coco’s most popular video segments features Conan O’Brien joining Hart and Ice Cube on a Lyft ride.

Hart will curate the original and archived videos available on Laugh Out Loud, and Jeff Clanagan — Hart’s business partner for the past decade and CEO of Codeblack (which produced and distributed Hart’s breakthrough stand-up concert film, Let Me Explain for Lionsgate) — will preside over Laugh Out Loud as well as Hartbeat Digital.

Quotes from today’s press release!

“Lionsgate has always been a great partner of mine, and I’m more than excited to take our business and creative relationship to new levels,” said Hart. “I understand the direction in which the television business is headed, and I see this big new space toward which audiences are starting to gravitate. I believe that launching this venture together now puts us ahead of the pack.”

“Kevin is one of the biggest stars in the world, and we’re proud to kick off our partnership with a new OTT platform as well as a mobile game, extending a collaboration that began with the film Kevin Hart: Let Me Explain,” said Lionsgate Chief Executive Officer Jon Feltheimer. “He is an incredibly versatile talent who will bring his unique comedic voice to Laugh Out Loud’s entire spectrum of original content, and his ever-expanding global fan base gives both initiatives tremendous growth potential. Nobody understands how to continue extending Kevin’s brand better than Jeff Clanagan, and we’re pleased that he will lead the new platform’s growth.”

“During his rise to global superstardom, Kevin has not only emerged as a singular and visionary talent but as an incredibly successful entrepreneur with tremendous business instincts that match his prodigious creative skills,” said Clanagan. “The Kevin Hart brand speaks for itself, and his combination of creative brilliance and financial acumen position Laugh Out Loud and his social game to continue expanding his global fan base while introducing his comedic genius to a whole new online audience.”

The new partnership with Lionsgate also will create a mobile game for Hart through developers Fifth Journey, in which Hart’s character mentors game players to become comedy rock stars in their own right.

Hart is co-hosting the MTV Movie Awards this April with Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, and they’ll be co-starring together on the big screen in the upcoming Central Intelligence. He’s also a voice in the animated film, The Secret Life of Pets, just sold a memoir he’ll be writing, and filmed his 2015 stand-up tour, Kevin Hart: What Now?, in front of 52,000 fans at the stadium for the Philadelphia Eagles. And the TV show he co-created and stars in for BET, Real Husbands of Hollywood, continues.
