Robert Klein documentary joins vibrant meta comedy film slate at SXSW 2016

South By Southwest has filled out its 2016 feature film slate for SXSW, and a Robert Klein documentary directed by Klein himself will round out a comedy bill that’s quite meta. Last year, hit flicks Trainwreck and Spy both made their world premieres in Austin for SXSW. For 2016, the comedy movies debuting at the mega-fest in the Texas capital include: Robert Klein Can’t Stop His Leg: A hilarious and heartfelt look at the career and influence of comedy legend Robert Klein. Let’s Not Just Talk About Sex: Not Safe with Nikki Glaser on Comedy Central (review)

Sloss sat down with me in the basement of the Soho Playhouse before his first American run begins on Feb. 9, 2016. He’ll play five nights in New York City, then take the 90-minute show out to Los Angeles for...

Eye of the “Late-Night” Hurricane: Full Frontal with Samantha Bee debuts on TBS (review)

Such is the state of late-night TV in 2016 that of the two best, most necessary must-see programs, one doesn’t air on weeknights, the other isn’t even on in “late-night,” neither airs more than once a week and both owe much to their previous boss, who isn’t on TV now but will be again soon, in one form or another. Last Week Tonight with John Oliver already has won Peabody, Emmy and Writer’s Guild Awards in its first two seasons of Sunday nights on HBO. Now comes Full Frontal with Samantha Bee, charging into the mockery maelstrom of male-dominated...
