Alternate timeline: Marlon Wayans as Richard Pryor in this old audition footage for the comedian’s biopic

As you may recall, comedy fans have waited several years to see a major motion picture biography of the legendary Richard Pryor. It’s happening now, directed by Lee Daniels and starring Mike Epps as Pryor, with Oprah Winfrey playing Pryor’s grandmother, who raised the young comedian in a brothel. But one of the possible iterations of the Pryor biopic would have cast Marlon Wayans in the titular role, and today, we finally can see what that may have looked like. SXSW recording first-ever stand-up special during 2015 comedy fest

The SXSW festival’s comedy lineup always boasts an array of big names, but this year’s festival (March 14-21, 2015) features something brand-new that you’ll be able to enjoy later even if you couldn’t make it to Austin, Texas. A recorded SXSW stand-up special! The festival announced today that it’ll feature two live broadcast tapings, each hosted by W. Kamau Bell and spotlighting a different lineup of phenomenal comics. Gary Kroeger’s recap from “Backstage at SNL’s 40th”

Gary Kroeger, 57, was a cast member on Saturday Night Live from 1982-1985 (seasons 8-10). The Iowa native joined SNL just a year after graduating from¬†Northwestern University, and you may remember him best as I did, performing in a series of Donny and Marie Osmond parodies with fellow cast member Julia Louis-Dreyfus.
