Joel McHale poses with Les Moonves on the eve of CBS Upfronts: Next stop, Late Late Show?

This could mean anything or nothing at all, right?

Right????!?!?!?!

On the eve of the annual CBS Upfronts presentation to advertisers, CBS chief Les Moonves and his wife, The Talk‘s co-host Julie Chen, posed for a photo with Joel McHale.

Chen posted the photo early this morning to her Twitter feed, writing: “Me and my hubby hanging with the hilarious @joelmchale.” McHale RT’d it at 9:03 a.m. today, adding: “Hey—it’s Julie, Les, & Swollen Head!”

McHale had starred on a rival network, NBC, on Community. But that was cancelled over the weekend at the conclusion of its fifth season. He also has hosted The Soup on E!, a sister Comcast/NBCUniversal station to NBC.

McHale, however, also recently delivered the keynote comedy address at the annual White House Correspondents’ Dinner — a job historically given in this generation only to major late-night talk show hosts.

And there does just so happen to be a vacancy at CBS at 12:35 a.m. with Craig Ferguson vacating The Late Late Show at year’s end.

So….

Norm Macdonald seemed ready to read between the lines of the photograph, congratulating McHale already: “Congratulations to @joelmchale, the new host of the late, late show. The #latelatenormnorm should be extinguished, unseemly now. Thanks, tho”
