CBS announced Stephen Colbert will replace David Letterman as its late-night TV host when Letterman retires in 2015. “Stephen Colbert is one of the most inventive and respected forces on television,” CBS Chairman and CEO Les Moonves said in a statement Thursday. “David Letterman’s legacy and accomplishments are an incredible source of pride for all of us here, and today’s announcement speaks to our commitment of upholding what he established for CBS in late night.” Colbert, 49, signed a five-year deal with CBS. When David Letterman announced his intention last week to retire from the Late Show¬†on CBS and all of the late-night TV wars that have come with his career, everyone who had access to the Internet posted a Top 10 List of possible replacements for him.
