Tom Green is back on cable TV.
The lovably loony Canadian comedian has taken his talk show from cable access to MTV to his home in the hills and now back to Burbank, where he’ll be broadcasting Tom Green Live on Thursday nights for AXS TV, starting next Thursday, Oct. 3, 2013.
He won’t be quite at home, but rather in a Burbank studio. Here’s a picture Green posted from his new set today, writing as a caption: “Next week. Just add cameras and lights. New TV show coming soon!”
Tom Green Live will air from 9-10 p.m. Eastern (6-7 p.m. Pacific) on AXS, leading into the currently airing weekly live stand-up showcase at NYC’s Gotham Comedy Club: Gotham Comedy Live.
Green hosted Gotham Comedy Live for AXS back in June.
“I am thrilled that AXS TV is bringing Tom Green Live to television,” Green said. “Expect spontaneous, ridiculous, and outrageous conversations. I am looking forward to launching this crazy show. Stay tuned!”
Mark Cuban, who founded AXS TV, said Green is perfect for live TV and for his cable channel: “Live television works best with an element of danger and when results are unpredictable. Throughout his career, Tom has embodied the skillset you look for in a live performer. Adding the unedited viewer element means that anything can happen. Tom Green Live was exactly the type of show I envisioned when we decided to develop the network as a vehicle to deliver the best in live entertainment.”
Tom Green Live, featuring Green and a special guest each Thursday night, will feature many of the things you’ve come to know and expect from the comedian, plus a serious one-on-one conversation with that week’s guest. It’s the latest iteration of a format Green has explored, first in Canada, then on MTV, and eventually into his living room with Tom Green’s House Tonight.
Tom Green Live debuts Oct. 3, 2013, on AXS TV.
