HBO going to Northern California for two new comedy series

HBO’s current original comedy stable revolves around Girls and Veep. They’ll be rejoined by a double dose of guys by 2014. The pay-cable network has announced pickups of two new comedy series, both set in and around the Bay Area of Northern California. Today came word of an HBO series order for an untitled series written and directed by Mike Judge, which follows the young men in the high-tech Web 2.0 world of Silicon Valley. USA’s sitcom era reopens with orders for BFFs Jessica St. Clair and Lennon Parham; Chicago EMT series from Denis Leary

The USA Network’s tagline — “Characters Welcome” — now officially is welcoming sitcoms back into the cable channel’s programming fold. Repeats of ABC’s hit Modern Family will begin airing on USA in September 2013. Comedy Central to go dark to promote launch of Comedy Central Radio on SiriusXM

Comedy Central is about to launch Comedy Central Radio on SiriusXM this weekend, and it’ll make sure that its longtime TV watchers know about it when it happens. Comedy Central’s cable TV channel will go “dark” at midnight Sunday to simulcast the audio feed of Comedy Central Radio for its opening minute on SiriusXM, eliminating the moving pictures to alert TV viewers that they have a new way to experience the network’s stand-up and comedy special offerings.
