Comedy Headlines for 10/17/12

What’s happening in the comedy world now…

  • Anyone paying attention to the New York comedy scene in the past month knows that Chris Rock is working on a new hour of stand-up material so he can mount another tour, and eventually produce another comedy special. What about this rumor that Rock and Dave Chappelle might tour TOGETHER?!? Rock, visiting the Today show on Tuesday to promote the latest installment in the Madagascar animated movie franchise, said: “Maybe.” He added: “Me and Chappelle have been working out, trying to get some stuff together. But we will see.”
  • FOX has renewed Bob’s Burgers for a fourth season, coming in 2013. That’s good news for voice actors H. Jon Benjamin, Dan Mintz, Eugene Mirman, Kristen Schaal, John Roberts, Andy Kindler and a whole range of comedians who drop in as guest stars for the animated series.
  • FOX also is making a go of an American version of the BBC comedy Gavin & Stacey, about a couple in a long-distance relationship. The original series creators/writers/co-stars James Corden and Ruth Jones, are on board with the adaptation as executive producers. It has only a script order at this point.
