NBC hangs up on Dane Cook’s “Next Caller” before its midseason debut

The first network sitcom of the 2012-2013 to bite the dust never even made it to air. NBC announced late Friday that it had cancelled Dane Cook’s planned midseason sitcom, Next Caller, citing dissatisfaction with the show’s direction. Next Caller had wrapped production on four of its six ordered episodes after the pilot, taping in New York City. Cook confirmed the news on his Twitter feed with a bit of self-deprecation, writing: “After 4 episodes Next Caller has been politely asked to leave the building.
