IFC announces Portlandia: The Tour!

Do you love IFC’s new sketch comedy series, Portlandia, but don’t live anywhere near Portland, Ore.?

Not to worry, because Fred Armisen and Carrie Brownstein are bringing their eclectic comedy and musical tastes to a city near you. If you live near one of these six cities.

IFC announced Portlandia: The Tour, which will hit six cities at the end of this year and into January 2012, featuring Armisen and Brownstein, performing live music and presenting sneak-peek clips from their show’s second season, which begins Jan. 6, 2012.

Tickets go on sale Tuesday.

The Portlandia tour dates:

  • Dec. 27, 2011: Hollywood Theatre, Portland, Ore.
  • Dec. 28, 2011: Showbox, Seattle
  • Dec. 30, 2011: Mezzanine, San Francisco
  • Jan. 17, 2012: Echoplex, Los Angeles
  • Jan. 18, 2012: The Hideout, Chicago
  • Jan. 20, 2012: Music Hall of Williamsburg, Brooklyn, NY
  • Jan. 21, 2012: Bowery Ballroom, New York, NY

IFC already had announced that guest stars for the second season will include Penny Marshall (Laverne and Shirley), Jack McBrayer (30 Rock), Tim Robbins (The Shawshank Redemption), Andy Samberg (SNL), Amber Tamblyn (127 Hours, House) and Kristen Wiig (Bridesmaids, SNL) as well as musicians Isaac Brock (Modest Mouse), Steve Jones (guitarist, Sex Pistols), Johnny Marr (guitarist, The Smiths), Joanna Newsom (singer/songwriter), Eddie Vedder (songwriter/ vocalist/ guitarist, Pearl Jam) and Annie Clark (songwriter/guitarist/vocalist, St. Vincent).

Sounds like fun times ahead!

    1. While I certainly woludn’t call it a dud, I was disappointed with the first episode. A little too much concept and a little low on actual jokes. Maybe it’s just too hard to mercilessly make fun of something you love?For years now I’ve heard Portland described as Philly on the west coast.
