Bridgetown Comedy Festival puts Portland (Ore.) on the comedy map

The Bridgetown Comedy Festival has announced its ambitious and exciting lineup for its second annual effort, happening April 23-26, 2009, in Portland, Ore. Over 120 acts are scheduled to perform, including Janeane Garofalo, Brendon Small, David Koechner, Maria Bamford, Neil Flynn, Jon Glaser, Todd Glass, Hannibal Buress, Pete Holmes, Dave Hill, Leo Allen, Brody Stevens, Tig Notaro, Chris Hardwick, Andy Blitz, Natasha Leggero, and Hari Kondabolu. Also, a cast reunion of Home Movies to commemorate the 10th anniversary of its debut, long-form improv troupe Beer Shark Mice (whose members include David Koechner and Neil Flynn), "The Dave Hill Explosion," "The Tomorrow Show" featuring Brendon Small and Ron Lynch, and "The Midnight Show," featuring James Adomian and Michael Busch. The Pacific Northwest will be represented by Portland's own The Favorite Mysterious Actor Show and Seattle-based People's Republic of Komedy. Popular podcasts "The Sound of Young America," "Comedy and Everything Else," and "Guys With Feelings" will tape live programs at the festival as well. For the full lineup, click here. Purim Party’s “Meshugene Men” parody

The Jews seem to have a knack for this comedy thing, don't you know (you knew), and in this new promo video for the upcoming Purim, "The Shushan Channel," previously responsible for "Jewno," goes after the critical and cult favorite AMC drama, Mad Men, with "Meshugene Men." A note to readers: Housekeeping!

Happy Snow Day, readers of The Comic's Comic. I was going to start this Monday morning message by talking about the need for spring cleaning, but snow has fallen over much of the East Coast yesterday, overnight and into the morning, with more to come. Here at HQ, we have received at least five inches of wet, white flakes and might double that before the day is through. So perhaps not spring cleaning. But still. A good time as any to take a brief* step back from the site and see what needs fixing up and what needs to be added (certainly several reviews in my notepads need to make it to the Web).
