Britney Spears: Comedy career clips retrospective

So, yes, Britney Spears avoided the fake cameras long enough to act in front of legitimate TV cameras in a special hyped guest appearance on Monday night’s episode of the CBS sitcom How I Met Your Mother. The CBS team wisely gave her multiple scenes but kept each scene mercifully short. Give her a quick line or two. Let her play a naive receptionist. She did OK. Let’s take a look at a few clips (one here, two after the jump). It’s not as if she could tank it. Even her ex Kevin Federline proved that with his Super Bowl commercial. Plus, it’s not as if Spears doesn’t have experience working with trusted comedy crews. She hosted Saturday Night Live twice, back in 2000 and 2002. You most likely remember this sketch first. But here is another sketch from that 2000 episode, featuring a delightful turn by Tracy Morgan as Woodrow the homeless man who somehow tempts Britney to follow him…into the sewer. Prophetic?! Note to Hulu: You really should get all of your Britney Spears SNL clips on the site. Please? Thanks! Oh, and no Britney Spears comedy collection would be complete or close to it without these clips from her own TV show with Federline,...

Ochi’s Lounge: Now Monday-Thursday

Ochi’s Lounge, the basement venue of Comix, had its final weekend shows this past weekend, with a new schedule of shows running Mondays-Thursdays only. I don’t have the full story yet, but cannot say that this news exactly surprises me. Fridays and Saturdays are the big nights for the main showroom, and having those crowds try to squeeze through the Ochi’s free audiences to get to and from the bathrooms made for some inconveniences on both sets of audiences. Not that that’s the reason for the schedule shuffle. But I wouldn’t be surprised if it played a role. At any rate, the lineup for April in Ochi’s Lounge is online here. Here is a brief summary… Mondays (starting April 7): Ochi’s Motel (weekly workouts booked and hosted by Sean Donnelly & Joe Powers) Tuesdays (starting April 8): Early show at 7:30 p.m. rotates between Smart & Dirty (hosted by Eric I and Rob O’Reilly) and Little Ethnic Girls & Friends (hosted by Helen Hong and Maria Shehata). Late show at 9:30 p.m. is Drink at Work (moved from Saturdays). Wednesdays (ongoing): First Wednesdays it’s Andres du Bouchet Has Been Expecting You, with special guests. Third Wednesdays belong to Liam McEneneany’s Writings With Music (jazzy!). The other Wednesdays get a Faux Show early (7:30 p.m.) with Shawn Pearlman and Adam Newman, followed by the Slumber Party (hosted by Brooke Van...
