Mikey Day promoted to Saturday Night Live cast for Season 42

Mikey Day passed his summer audition, receiving a promotion from writing staff to cast member for the upcoming 42nd season of Saturday Night Live after co-starring this summer on NBC’s new weekly variety series, Maya & Marty. Day, 36, has written for SNL since 2013, most frequently writing partners for departing cast member Taran Killam — coincidentally, Day and Killam co-wrote the screenplay for Brother Nature, which opens in movie theaters and VOD today. The Writers Guild Association has announced nominees for 2015 achievements in writing for TV, and there’s plenty of praise to go around for broadcast networks, cable, and streaming services.
