Jimmy Kimmel Live will go at least 20 seasons on ABC

Jimmy Kimmel, 51, had to wonder in his early tenure hosting Jimmy Kimmel Live whether ABC might replace him with Nightline, Conan O’Brien, or anything else.

Kimmel need worry no more.

ABC announced a three-year contract extension with him, keeping JKL on the air through its 20th season. Kimmel has become the face of the network, delivering jokes at the annual Upfront presentations to advertisers (as he did once again this week) and hosting the Emmy Awards and the Oscars.

Next week, he’s also hosting and executive producing a live primetime special for ABC with all-star re-enactments of classic sitcom episodes from All in the Family and The Jeffersons.
