Fred Savage to host summer FOX talk show spoof, “What Just Happened?”

Move over Chris Hardwick.

Fred Savage will host his own after-show talk show, even though the show it’s talking about this summer isn’t an actual show. You get it? What Just Happened??! with Fred Savage will premiere Sunday, June 30, 2019, on FOX.

Savage’s comedy talker will focus on a fictional TV drama called The Flare, itself based on a fictional series of sci-fi books that the actor supposedly has loved since childhood. Hence, the superfandom. He’ll interview actual celebrities, pay set visits to the faux show, and interview “cast” members, too.

Savage has created this spoof with Dave Jeser and Matt Silverstein, who will serve as executive producers alongside David A. Hurwitz, Jen Patton and Adam Lowitt. Additional writers include Abbey McBride, Edgar Momplaisir, Chase Mitchell, Agathe Panaretos and Sean O’Connor.

Savage had recently co-starred on FOX’s sitcom The Grinder for its one and only full season in 2015-2016.
