Mike Myers to star in Netflix sketch series

Netflix is making a big play for sketch comedy this year. They’ve already introduced series from Aussie Chris Lilley and American Tim Robinson. Now they’re adding an even bigger fish: Saturday Night Live alum and Austin Powers star Mike Myers.

Myers, last seen on the small screen inhabiting a character to host ABC’s reboot of The Gong Show, and on the big screen in Bohemian Rhapsody, will make and star in six episodes featuring himself as various characters.

“I love creating characters, and Netflix has given me a fantastic playground to play in,” Myers said.

John Lyons and Jason Weinberg will serve as EPs alongside Myers for the series. No word on how many of the characters will be new creations, and whether any of his legendary creations will return. Stay tuned.
