Samantha Bee returning to DC for second annual “Not the White House Correspondents’ Dinner”

The actual White House Correspondents’ Dinner may not feature any comedians in 2019.

Which makes Samantha Bee’s Not the White House Correspondents’ Dinner even more special its second time around.

“I vowed never to host a NWHCD ever again,” Bee said. “But the White House Correspondents’ Association has left me no choice—it is now up to comedy journalists to take care of real journalists. Even if those journalists insist on wearing corduroy.”

“It’s bigger than just the Free Press this time around,” said Bee. “This is about the non-sexy parts of the First Amendment too—and if the White House Correspondents’ Association won’t defend them, we will.”

Bee’s Full Frontal event will tape April 26, but air the following night at the same exact time as the official WHCD.

All proceeds for “Not the White House Correspondents’ Dinner” will go to the Committee to Protect Journalists (cpj.org). “I had to put out this press release so that I wouldn’t be able to change my mind,” said Bee. “I hope this isn’t a mistake.”
