Judd Apatow will direct a movie co-written with Pete Davidson about Pete’s life

Pete Davidson had a small role onscreen in Amy Schumer’s Trainwreck, the last feature film Judd Apatow directed.

Since then, Apatow has been trying to figure out how to help Davidson fashion his own starring vehicle on the big screen. And now they have.

Filming will begin this summer for Universal on a script co-written by Davidson, Apatow and Dave Sirus that spins a semi-autobiographical version of Davidson’s life growing up on Staten Island.

Davidson’s father, a New York City firefighter, died on 9/11 when Pete was 7. Raised by a single mom, Pete jumped into comedy at 16, quickly found himself on Wild N Out, and became one of the youngest cast members to join Saturday Night Live when he was still only 20.

He’s also been frequently mentioned in the gossip sites and tabloids in the past few years, from dating Cazzie David (Larry David’s daughter), to a stint in rehab, to a very public relationship with singer Ariana Grande. Outside of SNL, Davidson also has appeared in a music video with Machine Gun Kelly, and has a role in the upcoming movie, What Men Want.

Davidson also stars in a new film at Sundance, Big Time Adolescence.

Congrats guys!
