YouTube is pivoting away from both original programming and premium subscription services.

Sounds like a bad thing.

And yet.

Even though you shouldn’t be pitching your new original comedy ideas to the video giant, you will be able to continue watching comedy on YouTube for free. YouTube is dropping what was once called YouTube Red and then YouTube Premium. I mean, you can still pay for YouTube Premium. But you won’t have to in 2019, as the service will offer its original programming for free with ads.

Which means more you will be able to tune into the service’s hit series, Cobra Kai, as well as new comedy Champaign, Ill., starring Adam Pally and Sam Richardson. And everything else from YouTube Originals.
