Aidy Bryant to star in Lindy West’s “Shrill” for Hulu

Production began over the weekend in Portland, Ore., for Shrill, a six-episode limited series on Hulu starring Saturday Night Live‘s Aidy Bryant based on journalist Lindy West’s 2016 memoir.

The shooting schedule, much like Portlandia before it, will not prevent Bryant from starring in SNL this fall. Particularly since Lorne Michaels’ Broadway Video and Brownstone Productions’ Elizabeth Banks and Max Handelman are producing.

Lolly Adefope, Luka Jones, Ian Owens and John Cameron Mitchell co-star.

As Bryant wrote in breaking the news: “We are working hard to make the show I dreamed of seeing when I was fourteen. A fat woman with a full dynamic life on TV!!! I can’t wait for you to see our talented cast @lollyadefope@lukayovetich@_dang_yall and the incredible @johncameronmitchell. More to come but this is a dream come true and I love you! Ps don’t worry! I’m still returning to my beloved @nbcsnl 💕”
