Sacha Baron Cohen character exposed by California gun store owner

We saw four new Sacha Baron Cohen characters in his latest satirical stunt, Who Is America?, which debuted this past Sunday on Showtime.

But a fifth character didn’t go over so well, as Baron Cohen found out last year and we only discovered this week, thanks to a California gun store owner who shared his own footage with local TV news in Los Angeles.

“You’re Borat,” the owner of Warrior One Guns & Ammo in Riverside, Calif., recalled after meeting a bearded Hungarian immigrant who came into his store with a documentary film crew. The “immigrant” abruptly turned around and left the store. Store footage shows the encounter inside, as well as Baron Cohen interacting with his crew outside.

Wouldn’t you love to see more outtakes where Baron Cohen in disguise didn’t go as planned? A separate show behind the show!
