Apple orders immigration anthology TV series from Emily V. Gordon and Kumail Nanjiani

Immigration is front and center of America’s conversation right now.

The biggest, saddest immigration story is happening in Texas, where the Trump Administration is building new concentration camps for the babies and young children separated from their parents when they are captured trying to cross the border without papers.

Kumail Nanjiani has lived a much different, more fortunate immigrant story.

Nanjiani and his wife, Emily V. Gordon, who were nominated for an Oscar for their screenplay documenting their real-life romance in The Big Sick, have sealed a deal with Apple for an eight-episode half-hour TV series called Little America.

Little America, based on true stories featured in Epic Magazine, will spotlight other funny, inspiring and heart-warming stories about American immigrants.

We certainly need more of those in real life now.

Nanjiani and Gordon will co-write with Lee Eisenberg, who will showrun. Alan Yang (Master of None) will executive produce with Universal Television producing.
