by Normally the rotating networks who host the Emmy Awards each fall use it as an opportunity to showcase their star late-night talk-show host.
NBC has done that before for both Jimmy Fallon and Seth Meyers. For 2018, though, they’re going with Saturday Night Live’s Weekend Update duo of Colin Jost and Michael Che, who’ll co-host the 70th Primetime Emmy Awards on Sept. 17, 2018. Lorne Michaels will executive produce the Emmys, and there are plans for other SNL stars to pitch in.
“NBC is thrilled to be the home of this year’s Emmy Awards and with Colin and Michael in the driver’s seat as hosts, along with surprise appearances by other cast members of ‘Saturday Night Live,’ I think we are in for one of the funniest awards shows in a long time,” said Robert Greenblatt, Chairman, NBC Entertainment.
Added Paul Telegdy, President, Alternative and Reality Group, NBC Entertainment: “We’re proud of our deep comedy roster at NBC, and Michael and Colin – along with the return of king of comedy producer Lorne Michaels – will make this the must-see comedy event of the year.”

This Emmy-nominated duo has worked together on “Weekend Update” since 2014. They’ve also served as SNL co-head writers since 2017.
