Maria Bamford filed a restraining order against President Donald J. Trump

On Friday, April 13, 2018, comedian Maria Bamford went to her local courthouse to file a restraining order. Not against an ex. But against the president. Of the United States.

As for what to put on her forms as to why Trump needed to stay away from her? “I printed out all of his public threats of violence – mostly the nuclear tweet and interview responses re: his interest in nuclear war.”

The court asked her to return Monday.

By then, Bamford’s act had gotten the attention of TMZ and everyone else.

She responded to the media coverage, too: “Thanks for the thoughtful and kind reportage. I feel suitably embarrassed and afraid now, but just trying something even is it’s useless.”
