15th annual StandUp NBC comedian search kicks off, will allow video submissions, too

NBC’s annual StandUp NBC nationwide search for stand-up comedians of diverse backgrounds, has launched, and for its 15th anniversary, the event not only is expanding to five regional audition sites instead of four, but also is allowing video submissions for each of the regionals.

Details:

  • The five cities for auditions in 2018 will be: Chicago (June 9-10)Las Vegas (June 23-24)Charlotte (July 28-29)New York (August 11-12), and Houston (Sept 22-23).
  • All five cities on the tour will offer online video submissions where comics can submit a recent two-minute performance in lieu of attending the open call. Submissions dates for all five cities can be found here.
  • Each city will host an open call, call backs, and a semi-finalist showcase where last year’s StandUp NBC winner Kiry Shabazz will headline (with the exception of Chicago, which in lieu of an open call, is only accepting online video submissions for the semi-finalist showcase).

  • The 2018 finale showcase will be held in Los Angeles later this year. The StandUp NBC winner receives a Talent Holding Deal with NBCUniversal, meetings with NBCUniversal casting execs, and an invitation to showcase at NACA (National Association for Campus Activities) for the opportunity to tour the US college circuit.
