Jimmy O. Yang on How To American

Jimmy O. Yang has a new memoir out, How To American. It’s about how his family brought him to the States from Hong Kong when he was 13, and how he discovered comedy.

It’s also a great time for Yang, as he stands to benefit from T.J. Miller’s departure from Silicon Valley. His character, Jian Yang, takes over the incubator house where the Pied Piper guys do all their funny business.

Yang went on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert last week to talk about how he first found out about comedy via BET.

So it may make more sense that the first time you saw him do stand-up on network TV, it was on Arsenio?

Here’s a highlight reel from his character’s scene-stealing moments on HBO:

And his book is out now!
