by Real Time meets real talk next month, as HBO has announced a Friday the 13th premiere for Wyatt Cenac’s Problem Areas.
Airing at 11:30 p.m. Eastern Friday nights on HBO, Cenac will star in 10 weekly episodes taking him all across America to examine the real problems facing us socially, culturally, politically and financially.
He already has a background in meeting the people through “documentary-style field reports” as a former correspondent for The Daily Show with Jon Stewart on Comedy Central from 2008-2012. As HBO teases, his segments for them “will take him around the country, from suburban Minneapolis to downtown Cincinnati to rural Texas, as he investigates systemic issues from his unique perspective. Cenac will also tackle more benign problems facing Americans, offering comedic solutions to everyday inconveniences. In addition, Wyatt Cenac’s Problem Areas will feature in-studio commentary on current events, addressing issues and engaging the audience to keep the conversation going through social media.”
Cenac’s stand-up special, Brooklyn, was nominated for the 2015 Grammy for Best Comedy Album. You also can currently see Cenac starring in the TBS series, People of Earth. He also made a webseries last year for Topic, aka Wyatt Cenac.
