Jim Gaffigan will release his 2018 stand-up special everywhere but Netflix

Netflix owned comedy in 2017.

In 2018 and beyond, who knows?

Jim Gaffigan, whose first five hours of stand-up comedy stream exclusively on Netflix, has announced he’ll release his upcoming sixth special, Noble Ape, this summer on multiple major platforms simultaneously.

“I wanted to make sure NOBLE APE is available to everyone at the same time. This show is a very personal hour which deals with Jeannie’s brain tumor and what we went through,” Gaffigan said today.

Noble Ape will debut July 17, 2018, worldwide on Amazon, AT&T, Charter, Comcast, Cox, DIRECTV, DISH, Google Play, iTunes, Playstation, Verizon, Vudu (Walmart), and Xbox among other platforms. Just not Netflix. The same day, you’ll also be able to buy the album version of Noble Ape both physically and digitally.

He’s currently on a world tour. He also stars in a new movie, You Can Choose Your Family, which will premiere next month at SXSW.

Last year, Bob Saget also went the everywhere-but-Netflix route for his latest stand-up special. And Comedy Dynamics recently announced it had filmed a “’90s Comedian Six-Pack” of specials from Louie Anderson, Tom Arnold, Rita Rudner, Darrell Hammond, Paul Rodriguez, Michael Winslow and Jimmie Walker, which will come out later this spring and summer.
