Showtime has cancelled Dice

After two seasons, Showtime has decided to stop rolling the Dice with Andrew Dice Clay’s semi-autobiographical sitcom.

The formal announcement came Tuesday, but the writing had been on the wall, ever since its notable absence at the winter TCA sessions. Ratings also were never great for the sitcom that pondered what “Dice” was doing now in Las Vegas with his live-in girlfriend (played by Natasha Leggero) and his best friend Milkshake (Kevin Corrigan), and frequent cameos by other comedians and Vegas acts. Showtime posted the entire season digitally at once, then aired episodes on TV weekly. First-season episodes averaged 191,000 viewers; last year’s second season, only 146,000.

You still can watch both seasons of Dice on Showtime Anytime or On Demand.

And you can listen to my podcast with Dice creator Scot Armstrong. It’s Episode #170 of Last Things First.
