Comedian attacked onstage at South Carolina comedy club. Where was security?

All I keep asking while watching this footage is simply: Where is the club’s security staff? Why isn’t anyone breaking this up? How is this happening?

In case you haven’t already seen this or heard about it, stand-up Steve W. Brown was headlining over the weekend at Comedy House in Columbia, S.C., when an audience member jumped onstage looking for a fight. It quickly escalated when the guy from the audience grabbed the mic stand and swung it at Brown, and then he still had time to pick up the stool and throw it at Brown, too. Eventually, two other audience members jumped onstage to break it up.

Here’s the footage, shot by another audience member: Tumika LaSha.

And here’s Brown with some thoughts afterward: “First off let me start by saying Thanks for the calls and messages from friends, fans and my family. With that being said, let me say this. This unprovoked attacked that happened to me tonight is a reminder of why these comedy clubs should have well equipped PROFESSIONAL security to protect us entertainers who bring their club so much money. I thank God for looking out for me and giving my old ass the ability to Bob and weave because this could have ended in horrible way.” He says more in the video Instagram message below. Roll it!
