Hank Azaria responds to Hari Kondabolu’s truTV documentary on The Simpsons: “The Problem with Apu”

Here’s something you don’t see much: A celebrity thanking TMZ for stopping him to ask a question.

But here was Hank Azaria, who voices Apu (among several other characters) on The Simpsons, with a statement regarding comedian Hari Konadbolu’s documentary for truTV, The Problem With Apu.

“I think the documentary made some really interesting points, and gave us a lot at The Simpsons to think about. And we really are. Thinking about it. And definitely anybody that was hurt or offended by it – any character or vocal, you know, performance – it’s really upsetting that that was offensive or hurtful to anybody, and I think it’s an important conversation, and one definitely worth having, so thanks for asking.”
