Michael Kosta named correspondent for The Daily Show with Trevor Noah

With Jordan Klepper jumping ship to launch his own late-night show on Comedy Central, as Stephen Colbert had done before him, there’s a slot open on The Daily Show for that snarky know-it-all white guy correspondent.

Comedy Central has found him in Michael Kosta! Kosta will make his debut tonight with an in-studio desk piece.

Kosta already has experience with that kind of correspondent role with his previous work on the E! news parody series, The Soup Investigates. He’s also served as a co-host of Fox Sports 1’s talk show, Crowd Goes Wild, performed on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, ConanLate Night with Seth Meyers, and appeared on Comedy Central via @midnight and his own half-hour stand-up special. He also just recorded a story for the upcoming season of This Is Not Happening.

I met Kosta a decade ago at HBO’s US Comedy Arts Festival in Aspen, where he first broke out in 2007. Shortly thereafter, he perfomed on Comedy Central’s Live At Gotham.

In 2015, Kosta fronted an E! series called The Comment Section, and here was The Soup‘s Joel McHale talking him up back then.

You can hear Kosta hosting the “Worst Birthday” podcast on All Things Comedy where he talks with his guests about their worst birthday experiences. He’s also starred in a Snapchat series for Comedy Central based on “Worst Birthday.”

And if he hasn’t already told you, then I will: Before comedy, Kosta enjoyed a brief career as a professional tennis player (ranked #864) after winning four Big Ten championships with the University of Illinois tennis team.
