On Second Thought with Roy Wood Jr.

Episode #5 of my exclusive Laughly podcast miniseries, On Second Thought, is out now with Roy Wood, Jr.

On Second Thought asks: If tragedy plus time equals comedy, then comedy plus time equals what now?

We all know and love Wood now as a star correspondent on The Daily Show with Trevor Noah, and he just hosted the ESSENCE Festival in New Orleans, but he made his major breakthrough in 2010 as a finalist on NBC’s Last Comic Standing. Wood could have won the whole competition, but something about his semifinals set on live primetime TV still doesn’t sit right with him. Was it the material he chose? Or perhaps more likely, trying to do too much with too little time on TV? We get into all of that in Episode #5 of On Second Thought, on Laughly.

Other episodes have included Gilbert Gottfried talking about his fateful decision to tell “The Aristocrats” joke and how it changed his entire career, Chris Gethard on how his reflections on Bonnaroo have changed over the years, Costaki Economopoulos on a couple of bits that haven’t aged well, and Jackie Kashian wondering why she opened an album recording with political jokes when she’s not a political comedian.

On Second Thought is available exclusively on Laughly.
