Sam Morril launching late-night talker on MSG

Sam Morril has sat courtside for the New York Knicks. Now the comedian is getting a prime slot on the TV network that broadcasts Knicks games.

People Talking Sports* (*and Other Stuff) will premiere in late-night on MSG Network on July 10.

Page Six broke the news.

MSG has broadcast another half-hour talk show fronted by a comedian, Four Courses with JB Smoove. This isn’t a food show, though.

“It’s going to be unlike any MSG show ever,” Morril told The Comic’s Comic today. “We will have hopefully cool celebrity guests, Knicks and other hoop legends, funny people, and more. I’m writing it with Anthony Devito, who is great, and I think the show is going to be killer. Also, I feel like Kristaps Porzingis and I are going to become best friends. Is that presumptuous?”

As Morril emailed me, word surfaced that the Knicks are entertaining trade offers for Porzingis as the NBA Draft approaches on Thursday.

“If they trade him, I’ll be devastated. Love his game and attitude. Seems a good kid,” Morril told me.

Speaking of good kids, there will be a role for fellow comedian Joe Machi, with whom Morril has enjoyed a long-running fake feud in their cable TV appearances, as well as doing a podcast together with comedian Phil Hanley, “Keeping Joe.”

“As for Machi, he will be a villain who trolls athletes a la Skip Bayless,” Morril said.

People Talking Sports* (*and Other Stuff) premieres July 10, 2017, on the MSG Network.
