Ellen DeGeneres will film a stand-up special for Netflix, her first in 14 years

Ellen DeGeneres has received a Presidential Medal of Freedom and hosted the Oscars, all while reigning over daytime TV as host of Ellen, but the one thing she hasn’t done since launching Ellen in 2003 was record and release a new stand-up special.

That’s changing now.

Netflix announced they’d lured DeGeneres into joining every other A-list stand-up and produce a Netflix comedy special in 2017.

DeGeneres previously made two stand-up specials for HBO; the latter, Here and Now, in 2003. She also hosted three variety specials for TBS from 2007-2009.
