Maria Bamford commencement address to University of Minnesota class of 2017

Maria Bamford graduated from the University of Minnesota with a creative writing degree in 1993, and returned 24 years later to deliver a creative and meta commencement address to the class of 2017.

In her speech, Bamford described exactly how she ended up getting invited and paid to speak. “Was my alma mater lowballing me? I’m not a sitting governor and the football coach isn’t living check to check,” she joked. She also disclosed how her husband ended up with massive college loan debt. And she closed with a great way to pay it all forward. Love it!
