The Big Sick, written by Emily V. Gordon and Kumail Nanjiani, is based on the beginnings of their real-life romance a decade ago, but updated to today. Michael Showalter directs, with Judd Apatow and Barry Mendel producing, Zoe Kazan playing Emily, Holly Hunter and Ray Romano playing her parents, and Nanjiani playing himself.

The Big Sick premiered at the Sundance Film Festival. It opens in select theaters June 23, 2017, nationally July 14, 2017.
