20 years later, “Roseanne” revival in the works with full cast attached

Everything old can be new again in this era of Too Much TV.

Re-enter Roseanne. The hit ABC sitcom, which aired 222 episodes from 1988 to 1997 and peaked at the top of the ratings in its second of nine seasons, is calling for a full reunion (no word on which Becky) in the form of an eight-episode limited series revival.

Deadline broke the news today, with other trade publications quickly confirming it. Deadline reports the revival — with original series EPs Tom Werner, Roseanne Barr, and Bruce Helford plus cast member Sara Gilbert — already is shopping the reunion season, with ABC vying with Netflix, among others. ABC, of course, has sentimental reasons to host the reboot. While Netflix has the deep pockets.

Gilbert, who co-hosts daytime CBS talker, The Talk, recently connered John Goodman into participating in a reunion sketch.

They also talked up the possibilities on that March episode of a Roseanne reunion.

Johnny Galecki stars in The Big Bang Theory on CBS (where Laurie Metcalf is a recurring guest stars) but apparently they’re both on board for the reunion, too.

Roseanne herself hasn’t yet Tweeted about it. Although back in 2009, she did put forward her ideas for where all of the Conners and their neighbors and friends would be then:
